Exerpeutic 100XL High Capacity Magnetic Resistance Manual Treadmill
Exerpeutic 100XL is affordable, walk-only treadmills. It comes with features not commonly found at walk-only treadmills and thanks to the two flywheels, three different incline levels and relatively large walking/running deck, it can be used even for light jogging.
Exerpeutic 100XL Features and Specifications
Exerpeutic 100XL is manual treadmill - it doesn't have electric motor to drive the running/walking belt. This is very important feature, since it lowers mechanical complexity, weight, price, but it also depends on the user to drive the belt by walking and/or running. Since it lacks the electric motor, which is commonly in the range of 2-3 CHP for good home treadmill, Exerpeutic 100XL doesn't increase power bills.
Unit comes with two 6" (~15.2 cm) flywheels, which make the ride smoother.
When it arrives, unit requires some assembly, but the assembly is very simple.
Unit dimensions (L x W x H): assembled 50 x 29 x 50 inches (~127 x 73.7 x 127 cm), folded 35 x 29 x 61 (~89 x 73.7 x 155 cm); unit weight 73 pounds (~ 33kg), running/walking belt size 45 x 16 inches (~114 x 40.6 cm), maximum user weight 300 pounds (~136 kg), maximum tested user weight 325 pounds (~147 kg).
Assembly of the unit - unit comes 'almost' assembled and there isn't much what user have to do to have the treadmill 'up and running'. However, be sure to read the instructions, first. If you are not DIY person, you can always order a certified technician to have it assembled for you.
Folding design - unit can be folded upwards in order to save space, which is very important for smaller home gyms and for people not having much space. Also, Exerpeutic 100XL comes with small transport wheels, which in combination with relatively lightweight design, enables the user to move the unit if required.
Running/walking belt - the belt is large enough for comfortable walking, and thanks to the flywheels, unit can be even used for light jogging. Almost :) Well, the 'problem' is that this is manual treadmill, powered by the trainee, not electric motor. One has to find very fine balance between incline (three possible positions - 8°, 10° and 12°, although some sources mention 15° as the third incline level), speed, and desired ‘Pacer Control’ magnetic tension (8 possible levels). For short - jogging with the hands NOT on the handlebars is tough to achieve. Walking with the hands not on the handlebars is much easier, just be sure to start the workout session with both hands on the bars - better safe than sorry :)
Note: since this is manual treadmill, the easiest setting is with the largest incline, and the hardest setting is with the lowest incline. And don't forget magnetic resistance (8 levels) - more than enough for everyone, except of course advanced runners, but their treadmills cost much more (even 10x more!).
Treadmill's console is very simple and easy to use. It consists of single LCD monitor, which display basic elements of the workout like elapsed time, distance walked, burned calories, walking speed and heart rate via heart rate monitors on the handlebars. Simple, but effective.
Console also features small storage area, large enough for perhaps a TV remote or similar item. There is no space for tablet or smartphone, there are no speakers, no cooling fans, no space for water bottle, no USB charging ports etc.
This is very simple treadmill, designed for one purpose - to help the user burn calories and increase strength and stamina. Also, it is very quiet unit, especially when being used by lighter trainees.
And it comes with 3-Year limited warranty. Considering all the possibilities and the warranty, it is very affordable unit.
Long Story Short - Exerpeutic 100XL High Capacity Magnetic Resistance Manual Treadmill is simple, durable and affordable walking treadmill. Even all required batteries come with the unit (last time we checked, they did!).
