Sole F63 Home Treadmill Review

SOLE Fitness released a series of treadmills in 2019 and F63 is one of the series. The good news is that now Sole has reduced the price of F63 and upgraded the levels of speed and incline and location of their controls, added Bluetooth syncing, enhanced console display, and improved the integration of wireless tech.

Looking at its impressive features and outstanding sturdiness, it’s hard to believe that it’s designed for home use. It has been made from high-quality materials and therefore it’s reliable and durable. Many of its commercial quality parts are found only on treadmills that cost twice as that of this machine. Several of its features are not found in other treadmills in the same price range.

Features of Sole F63 Home Treadmill

Assembly

Most parts of the Sole F63, i.e. deck, drive, and incline motors and all other parts, come pre-assembled. Thus, users only have to attach the two front masts, the accessory tray between them and the console. Thus assembly is very easy and shouldn’t take more than an hour. The user manual contains all detailed assembly instructions and all the needed tools are included.

Frame and Construction

The Sole F63 Home Treadmill is equipped with a heavy-duty steel frame coated with a chip-resistant and rust-resistant paint. It comes in an attractive matte black finish with silver and red accents.

The machine, however, has several parts that are made from ABS material. These include cover of the motor, dashboard of console and side rail covers. The ABS material is very durable.

Motor

The 3.0HP motor of the Sole F63 is designed for top-notch performance for prolonged exercises even at the highest speed. It offers a smooth and steady motion of the belt even if the user is close to the maximum user weight capacity i.e. 325 lbs. (147 kg).

There is a small flywheel integrated to improve stability and reduce belt vibration. The flywheel also allows the motor to stay cooler with less amp draw which significantly increases its lifespan.

Stability

The Sole F63 Home Treadmill is quite heavy, weighing more than 250 lbs. So, at least two people are needed to transport the boxed unit. However, the heaviness of the unit contributes to its superior stability. The machine is even equipped with adjustable, rubberized levelers which help the unit remain stable on any type of floor.

Footprint

Fully assembled Sole F63 is significantly large-sized. Its footprint is around 82″ x 35″ (208 x 89 cm) (L x W). In addition, users have to leave a clearance of at least two feet on both sides and at least three feet at its backside for safe access and usage.

Easy Assist Fold Deck Design

Although the Sole F63 is quite large, it has a folding design and when it’s folded its length is reduced almost to more than half. Thus users can fold the deck and lock the two upright bars. Thanks to a hydraulic cylinder integrated in the folding mechanism, the deck will lift and lower slowly while folding and unfolding the machine respectively so as to prevent any damage.

Portability

The front base of the Sole F63 integrates four transport wheels. Thus users can fold the machine and relocate easily to a storage space.

Console

The console of the Sole F63 is pretty advanced. Firstly, it has a 6.5” diagonal LCD display with white backlight and large, easily readable digits. It is divided into three sections and shows all workout stats at a time; so, users don’t need to use the Scan function to alternate them. The workout metrics displayed include time, distance, pace, pulse, calories burned and the selected speed and incline.

sole f63 console

Users can choose to see the distance and speed readings in either metric i.e. kilometers and km/h or imperial i.e. miles and mph respectively. Distance is also shown in an animated 1/4 mile (400 m) racetrack display which counts all the laps that users complete.

The console offers goal settings too for time, distance and calories.

Above all, the console is Bluetooth enabled and users can connect to the SOLE app as well as other apps like MyFitnessPal and FitBit via Bluetooth to track their progress.

Heart Rate Monitoring

The Sole F63 features two handrails flanking the lower part of the dashboard. They have pulse rate sensors integrated in them holding which users can monitor their heart rate. Heart rate can be also monitored through a BLE4.0 wireless HR chest strap transmitter which is included.

Built-in Workout Programs

The console of the Sole F63 features 10 built-in workout programs. The first one of them is the Manual Mode. It offers users a possibility to just walk or run while adjusting the speed and incline as per user’s wish. The next 5 (P1 – P5) programs are Preset, each one of them having a specific setup. Thus P1 is Hill Climb, P2 is Fat Burn, P3 is Cardio, P4 is Strength Training and P5 is a HIIT (interval).

The next two are User Programs (User 1 & User 2). They give users the possibility to create their own programs, save it and re-use it as long as they want. Thus two profiles – User 1 and User 2 - can be created. Users have to choose between User 1 and User 2 and the screen will give instructions which they have to follow and fill their name, age, weight, preferred time duration and speed.

After this information is filled, the console will save it and present to the user every time they want to use it. Next time when users use it, the console will ask if they want to run it. If users choose ‘Yes’, their user program will run. If they choose ‘No’, it will ask if they want to delete it.

And the last two programs are heart rate based. One of them has a default level of 60% user’s projected maximum Heart Rate whereas the other has an 80% value. During any of these two programs, the machine will auto-adjust the speed, so as to keep users at the chosen projected heart rate level.

Cushion Flex Whisper Deck

The treadmill features a heavy-duty running deck which is designed to hold users up to 325 lbs. (147 kg). It integrates the Cushion Flex Whisper system which reduces the impact on joints by up to 40% as compared to outdoor jogging tracks and is whisper quiet. Because the exercise-related pain and stress is reduced, users can exercise for longer.

The running platform features a 2-ply, non-slip rubber belt. It has two rubber layers over a middle PVC layer with a backing made of nylon that rolls over the deck and rollers. The rubber offers strength, the PVC prevents over-stretching of the belt and the nylon offers a smooth, static-free surface to glide over the deck and rollers.

The belt measures 60″ x 20″ (152.4 x 50.8 cm) (L x W) which is more than sufficient for users up to 6’5″ (196 cm).

The diameter of the built-in rollers is 2.5” and they have a crowned structure with copper groundings and sealed bearings to minimize static. They offer superior traction as well as contact surface against the belt, increasing the lifespan of the belt and preventing slippage.

Incline

The Sole Fitness F63 features a motorized incline system which means that users can adjust the incline during the exercise from the controls on the console. Moreover, the console has many workout programs that automatically adjust the incline required for them.

The incline system comprises of a metallic lift and a motor which is different than the drive motor. When users adjust the incline, the motor controls the lift and slowly raises the front of the deck.

The incline range of the Sole F63 is between 0% and 15%. It increases in the increments of 0.5%. Controls for gradual incline adjustment are located on the left side of the console, under the display, as well as they’re integrated in the left handlebar of the machine. Also, the console features quick incline selection keys for 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, and 15 incline settings.

Step-up Height

The step-up height of the Sole F63 is around 8″ (20 cm) when the incline is 0%. When the incline is set to the highest level, the height of the front of the deck increases by a few inches. Hence users should make sure that the ceiling height of the room where they’ll set up and use the machine is at least 20″ (51 cm) higher than their own height.

Speeds

The speed range offered by the Sole F63 is from 0.5 MPH and 12 MPH. it increases in the increments of 0.1 MPH. This is great because users can easily find the best pace for their workouts. Gradual speed adjustment controls are located on the right side of the console under the display and are also integrated in the right handlebar. Similar to the incline, there are quick speed controls offered by the console for the 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, and 12 settings.

Add-ons

sole f63 usbThe Sole F63 comes with several add-ons.

Firstly it’s equipped with a sound system which comprises of two speakers placed atop the unit. It’s compatible with most smartphones and MP3 players and users can play their music through it for a better output.

They can also sync it with their device via Bluetooth. However, users have to input their own audio as it doesn’t feature any entertainment options.

Also, sound output cannot be controlled through the console, so, users have to adjust it on their device. But with the headphone jack, users can input the audio and skip speakers altogether.

Next, placed between the two speakers are two workout fans which provide a nice cooling during intense or longer rides. They have only a one-speed setting, but their direction can be adjusted up or down.

Then there are two bottle/accessory holders on each side of the dashboard and a tablet holder atop the unit.

Lastly, a USB port is also present that enables users to recharge their smartphone or tablet while they exercise.

Electrical Requirements

Just like any other motorized treadmill, the Sole F63 should be connected to an external power source of 120V. The machine includes a cable with a US plug. Its connector is located on the front of the deck along with the On/Off switch.

Noise Level

The motor is pretty quiet. Even the noise created by users’ cadence is absorbed by the cushioning system of the deck. However, if users run at a high speed their cadence will surely be heard.

Maintenance

The deck needs regular lubrication. The console will actually notify users to lubricate the deck after every 90 hours of use. A tube of lubricant for the initial lubrication is included. Another maintenance task is to keep the belt clean so that no dirt or fibers are captured in the motors or rollers. Finally, users have to regularly check for any loose parts or bolts.
