Quest Nutrition Quest Bar
Quest Nutrition Quest Bar is very popular protein bar, with several good reasons - it is well balanced food bar, with whey protein as basic protein source, it is very low on carbohydrates, rich in fibers, it comes in many flavors and at acceptable price.
And best of all, it tastes just like candy!
Published: December 3, 2019.
There are two main protein sources: Whey Protein Isolate and Milk Protein Isolate. It is not pure whey and that is, IMHO, good, since it will not digest quickly as protein bars based only on whey protein. There is no soy protein in these bars.
Basically, there are two versions of these bars: 'normal' protein bars and Stevia sweetened bars.
'Normal' bars come in these flavors: Apple Pie, Chocolate Brownie, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Cookies and Cream, Mixed Berry Bliss, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Peanut Butter Supreme, Vanilla Almond Crunch and White Chocolate Raspberry.
Stevia sweetened bars come in these, very similar, flavors: Banana Nut Muffin, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Cinnamon Roll, Coconut Cashew, Double Chocolate Chunk, Lemon Cream Pie and Strawberry Cheesecake.
As usual, I am big fan of Chocolate flavors :)
Nutrition content of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, per single 60g bar is: 21g of protein, 21g of total carbohydrates (17g of dietary fiber, 1g of sugars and 1g of erythritol - sugar alcohol), 8g of fat (3g saturated fat). Full list of ingredients includes: protein blend (whey protein isolate, milk protein isolate), isomalto-oligosaccharides, almonds, water, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter and erythritol.
Nutritional content of stevia sweetened Chocolate Peanut Butter, per single 60g bar is: 20g of protein, 25g of total carbohydrates (17g of dietary fibers, 1g of sugars and 5g of sugar alcohol). Full list of ingredients includes: protein blend (whey protein isolate, milk protein isolate), isomalto-oligosaccharides, peanut butter, water, erythritol, cocoa, peanuts, natural flavors, sea salt, Lo Han Guo, stevia.
Net content of carbohydrates in these bars is rather low and is around 3-4g per bar. Great!
Quest Nutrition Quest Bar can be found as single bar pack or packed in 12 bars boxes.
Note: most of the fibers come from Isomalto-Oligosaccharides and play important role in health of digestive system. These bars contain no added sugar and are gluten free. There is however allergy warning for people sensitive to nuts, milk and similar - just like with any other similar protein bar.
Recommendation - great food bar for breakfasts, daily snacks and desserts. Their net carbs are rather low, so if you like to spend some time outdoors or like low intensity aerobic workouts (walking for example), you can eat these bars to increase your protein intake, without increasing carbs intake - bars contain around 160-170 kcal and they will keep you satiated for at least 2-3 hours (depending on your size and type of activity - if you are 100+ kg very hungry guy, don't expect much from protein bars of any kind, except 'maybe' from those energy bars containing 300 or more calories per bar!).
Also, these bars can be consumed before and after gym workouts, although I would recommend classic Post Workout Meal (PWM) shake right after the gym workouts. But, if you are in the hurry, feel free to have 1-2 of these.
Price is great for such bar, especially 12 bars package. It can often be found on sale, so if you do find it, consider it - great tasting bar for a good price. Of course, there are cheaper protein bars, but what you pay is what you get :)
