Optimum Platinum Hydrowhey
Optimum Platinum Hydrowhey is whey based on hydrolyzed whey protein isolates. It also has some micronized Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) added to increase overall BCAA content. Very good whey protein except one thing - price. But, what you pay is what you get.
It comes in several flavors: Chocolate Mint, Turbo Chocolate, Supercharged Strawberry, Velocity Vanilla, Cookies & Cream Overdrive and Chocolate Peanut Butter.
Each flavor contains around 77g of protein, 5g of carbs (Chocolate Mint around 8g and Chocolate Peanut Butter 7g of carbs), 2.5g of fat and almost 0g of fiber per 100g of powder.
Optimum Platinum Hydrowhey comes in 1.75 lbs, 3.5 lbs and sometimes 4.59 lbs containers.
Powder mixes instantly in shaker, even in the glass with spoon. Taste is good - if you add fast carbs for PWM, it is like candy - great! This is great whey for PWM, but since it is hydrolyzed whey isolate, IMHO, it is too fast for breakfast. If you are on low calorie diet, take also one scoop before workout or even during workout - it will boost you energy and make you recover faster.
Price - price is, as expected, high. It is hydrolyzed whey isolate with some added BCAA, not whey protein blend like Optimum Gold Whey. If you can find it on sale - consider this whey protein for periods of extra effort in the gym or on the track.
Optimum Platinum Hydrowhey would be great whey protein powder, if there is no such high price. And marketing of Optimum Nutrition did their best to sell this product as much as possible. Look at the flavors for example - Turbo, Supercharged, Velocity, Overdrive. What is next? Ultra something? Don't get me wrong, this is good whey protein, even considering price.
Also, content of protein should be higher - there are similar whey protein powders that are also hydrolyzed whey isolates that are cheaper and that have higher percentages of protein in powder.
Optimum Platinum Hydrowhey - recommended for periods of strict, low calorie diets and for periods of high volume/intensity workouts for faster recovery and regeneration. If you have sponsor or anything similar and you get your hands on this whey - you have good one.
If you do find it on sale, at prices that are comparable with similar products, go for it - my only issue with this whey is actually its price and my opinion that whey supplement based on hydrolyzed whey protein isolate should have relatively more protein. But, it is instantized (to mix easily) and taste great!
