LifeSpan TR 1200i Folding Treadmill Features and Specifications
Folding System: EZ Drop - LifeSpan TR1200i is a residential treadmill suitable for home gyms, for walking/running enthusiasts, or for people wanting to walk/run in the privacy of their homes. To preserve space when not in use, TR1200i's running deck can be easily folded upwards. Folding and unfolding of the running deck is aided by hydraulic piston mechanism.
Unfolded Dimensions (L x W x H): 74 x 33 x 54 inches (~188 x 84 x 138 cm) - when in use, the running deck is on the floor and the unit requires at least 8 x 6 feet of free space. Note that the running deck is ~7.25 inches (~18.5 cm) above the floor when horizontal and that front of the running deck is ~11.5 inches (~29 cm) above the floor when positioned at level 15 incline. Important for rooms and home gyms with low ceiling.
Folded Dimensions (L x W x H): 39 x 33 x 66 inches (99 x 84 x 168 cm) - when not in use, the running deck is folded upwards and the treadmill's footprint is much smaller. If the unit must be moved around, TR1200i is equipped with small transport wheels. Nonetheless, it is highly recommended to place the unit on a permanent position, protected with a good treadmill mat.
When assembled, LifeSpan TR1200i weighs 197 pounds (89.2 kg) - it is not the lightest home folding treadmill on the market, but it is a strong and sturdy treadmill based on the welded steel frame.
Belt Size: 20" x 56" (~51 x 142 cm) - running deck is wide enough to provide enough room for walking and running, even for larger people. However, 56 inch length can be somewhat short for people with long running strides. For most people, running deck is roomy enough for comfortable workout.
Deck Suspension: 6 shock absorbers - shock absorbers in combination with a sturdy frame, non-elastic belt, and strong motor, ensures a smooth ride and are very easy on runner's joints.
Belt Type: 2-Ply running belt is strong and durable. Force from the motor to the belt and vice versa are transferred via 2.5 inches (6.25 cm) front and 2" (5.1 cm) rear rollers. The running belt must be periodically lubricated and it is highly recommended to purchase lubricant with the treadmill, since the unit must be lubricated before the first use, according to the manual.
Drive Motor: 2.5 HP Continuous Duty DC - 2.5 CHP motor provides plenty of power for both walking and running. Just be sure to place treadmill on good mat, which protect the floor from lubricant droplets and prevent dirt from floor (dust, hair, fibers etc.) to jeopardize the treadmill's motor and drive train.
Speed: 0.5 - 11 mph (0.8 - 17.6 km/h) Speed is variable, with the minimum speed of only 0.5 mph and with the maximum speed of 11 mph. Some advanced runners find 11 mph limiting factor for this treadmill, but faster treadmills cost more, require stronger motors and are larger and heavier.
Incline Motor: 650 lbs. (295 kg) - maximum lifting force of incline motor is 650 pounds and can support even the heaviest allowed runners when changing deck incline during walking or even running.
Incline: 15 Levels - LifeSpan TR1200i support 15 various levels of incline, which can be changed during walking/running.
Side Rails: Non-slip Plastic - important safety feature, often underestimated by many novice treadmill users. It is highly recommended to start walking/running slowly, on a horizontal deck, and then if required/needed, increase the speed and/or incline. The same is when ending the exercise. However, if you want to for whatever reason stop right away with running, stepping on these non-slip plastic side rails, while holding both handlebars with your hands, is the only way. And it must be done very carefully - YouTube is full of videos of people falling off the treadmills. Such falls can cause damage, injuries or worse.
Maximum User Weight: 300 lbs. (136 kg) - 300 pounds maximum user weight is more than enough for most people. If you do need a much stronger treadmill (maximum user weight of 400 pounds or even more), consider a walking treadmill, since such treadmills can be found at an acceptable price.
Warranty - Residential Warranty:
- Frame: Lifetime
- Motor: Lifetime
- Parts: 3 Years
- Labor: 1 Year
This is a very good warranty for a home treadmill.
As with any similar piece of equipment, it is highly recommended before first use to read the accompanying manual (some 40 pages).
One of the important notes: user must register LifeSpan product before a warranty claim can be processed (on-line or by sending warranty card by mail) within 30 days of purchase.
With its belt size, maximum user weight, and strong drive motor, this treadmill is designed and manufactured for daily use by the entire family. If you have problems with weight, knees, and similar and you are allowed only to walk (by your doctor or physician), but not run, this treadmill will last for a long long time.
LifeSpan TR 1200i Folding Treadmill Console Features
- USB Port: USB storage device automatically saves exercise data every 20 seconds. One can upload it to online free LifeSpan Fitness Club account. Note that USB memory stick does NOT come with the unit.
- Audio Center: Two speakers and a headphone plug-in provide entertainment in the form of favorite music.
- Easy to Use: Large soft-touch keys — Start, Enter, Up/Down arrow keys and Quick Start buttons are easily accessible and help one started at a specific speed and incline level. Novice trainees are recommended to start slow and on the horizontal deck.
- Readouts: walking/running time, burned calories, covered distance, number of walking/running steps, current heart rate, walking/running speed, and incline level. The unit comes with heart rate sensors and a chest strap receiver, however, a chest strap is not included.
- Display Area: Multi-color LCD with simultaneous readouts, exercise program name, and profile, and personal data from LifeSpan USB storage device. The display area is relatively small, but the unit has no Google Maps option, so it is large enough for its purpose. Data is easily readable by the runner during the exercise.
- Intelli-Step: Intelli-Step™ step-counting feature works like a pedometer and counts your steps while trainee walk.
- Programs: 2 heart rate programs, 2 customized user programs, and 17 preset programs (5 weight management, 5 healthy living, 7 sports training).
Long story short: LifeSpan TR1200i is not the cheapest home treadmill on the market, but what you pay is what you get - a strong and durable treadmill for the whole family. Few cons like no Google Maps option, no chest heart rate monitor, lack of lubricant, and USB memory stick should not be an issue for most of the home users. After all, a chest heart rate monitor, treadmill belt lubricant, and USB memory stick can be ordered separately.
