Merax JK1603E Easy Assembly Folding Electric Treadmill Motorized Running Machine
Merax JK1603E Easy Assembly Folding Electric Treadmill Motorized Running Machine is an entry-level, very affordable, home treadmill. This treadmill is suitable for brisk walking and light jogging in the privacy of the home and as such, it can help the user burn a large amount of calories. However, one must be aware of its shortcomings before purchasing this unit.

Merax JK1603E treadmill is a compact and lightweight unit, suitable for home use. It is of folding design and when folded it requires a very small footprint for storage. Also, it comes with transport wheels helping the user to move the treadmill around if and when required.
The console is easy to read and use and it allows the user to track speed, distance, heart rate, and calories burned. The accuracy of burned calories is questionable (the same problem has much more expensive models, too), but it is more than accurate enough to allow the user to compare the progress from workout to workout.
Motor is very quiet and enables the unit to be used while other people are in the room, without much disturbing them in most activities, like watching TV and similar.
Running/walking deck is very good for a treadmill in this price range, and it provides very good cushioning during walking and running, which is very good for joints.
Merax JK1603E Treadmill Features and Specifications
Merax JK1603E comes equipped with a 500W motor, which is strong enough only for walking and slow jogging of lighter people. Unit is decently designed (excellent for its price!) and the whole unit makes little noise during operation, especially when it is new and/or well maintained.
500W motor draws under 5 Amps, and the unit can be plugged practically into any wall socket, without special power requirements. Larger treadmills require much more power and can even increase electricity bills when used for a prolonged period of time :)
Speed is limited from 1 km/h to 10 km/h (that is from 0.62 mph to 6.2 mph), which is enough for walking and light jogging. Personally, such motor and speed range make this unit a very good unit for brisk walking exercises.
Note: don't underestimate brisk walking as a form of exercise - it can sometimes burn even more calories than slow jogging!
When assembled and ready for use, unit's size is approximately (W x H x L) 25 x 45 x 58 inches (~63.5 x 114.3 x 147.3 cm). Obviously, the unit is very compact and does not require much space even when in use.
When not in use, Merax JK1603E requires even less space. Its folded dimensions are ~25 x 25 x 51 inches (~63.5 x 63.5 x 129.5 cm).
And when folded, it can be easily moved around thanks to the transport wheels, just be careful - the unit weighs only ~70 pounds (~31.7 kg), but nonetheless, it requires great care to avoid any damage or injuries ...
The running deck is 14 inches wide and 44 inches long (~35.6 x 111.7 cm) and it is - small! Personally, the running deck, even for small framed people should be ~16 x 50 inches, and the 14 x 44 running deck is really, but really - small. But, for walking, it is large enough, requiring no 'special' walking technique.
Weight capacity is only 220 lbs (~100 kg) and personally, we didn't expect it to be larger.
Merax JK1603E comes with 3 built-in workout programs and three manual incline positions. Also, it comes with a contact heart rate monitor, which is very important for people working out in a specific 'heart rate zone'.
The console is easy to use and it enables the user to monitor workout time, burned calories, covered distance, running/walking speed, and heart rate on the LCD display which could be larger. Also, it is possible to choose one of the pre-set interval training programs or to choose a manual program.
Note: incline change is manual - the user must step down off the treadmill, change the incline and then again step up on the treadmill and continue with the exercise. Personally, set the required incline at the beginning of the exercise and keep the same incline all the time ...
Console has two water bottle holders and that is it - no cooling fans, no speakers or multimedia center, or anything similar.
Merax JK1603E Treadmill Maintenance
This is a very simple unit, with just a few things that can get broken.
Merax JK1603E treadmill comes with a 1-year warranty on the frame and the motor, which is great for a home treadmill in its price range.
Main maintenance tasks are keeping the running deck lubricated and running belt properly set - if it is too tight, too loose, or not properly aligned, rollers, running belt or some other part can get damaged.
It is relatively easy to both assemble the unit and to set the belt properly - if you are not sure, just check the manual/instructions. To help the users, the manufacturer adjusts the treadmill properly before shipping it out.
To protect the treadmill from the dirt and dust, and to protect the floors from any damage, it is highly recommended to place the unit on a good treadmill mat.
Long Story Short - Merax JK1603E Treadmill is an excellent and affordable home walking treadmill for lighter and smaller framed people. And it can be used for light jogging, too. :)
Please, be aware of its limitations and if you do fit within those limitations and you need a nice, entry-level home treadmill, Merax JK1603E Treadmill is one of the possible choices!
