Features of Sunny Health & Fitness Walking Treadmill SF-T7857
The assembly of the Sunny SF-T7857 is easy as the deck is already assembled. Users just have to attach the front masts, front handlebars, console, and side support bars. This doesn’t require more than an hour.
The manual contains all detailed instructions and schematics, and all the tools required for the assembly are included.
The motor of the Sunny SF-T7857 generates a 2.5 HP Peak Power output. Thus it offers a continuous power of around 1.2 CHP. Thus it’s strong enough to support users up to 295 lbs. (134 kg) for prolonged workout routines, without getting overheated or losing performance.
There is also a built-in flywheel in the motor which maintains the stability of the belt’s motion and minimizes vibration.
While the Sunny SF-T7857 is a basic treadmill meant for recovery training, its frame and sidebars are quite sturdy made of heavy-duty steel, and is designed to support users up to 295 lbs. (134 kg).
The covers of the motor and the sidebars are the only parts in the construction made of ABS plastic. All the steel parts have a durable powder-coated corrosion-resistant paint finish.
Sidebars and Handlebar
The extra-long sidebars are a prominent feature that categorizes this treadmill as recovery training equipment. Both these bars connect to the front mast in the front and an anchor point on the backside.
Their top is entirely covered by a non-slip rubber foam layer which provides a firm and comfortable grip. These provide great support and balance, and users can easily enter or exit the machine holding them.
The treadmill also has another handlebar positioned at the front. It’s meant to serve as a front parallel or horizontal grip if required. This handlebar too has the same type of non-slip rubber foam coating as that on the sidebars.
Although the Sunny SF-T7857 is not foldable, it’s not very large and so, it doesn’t take up a lot of space when fully assembled.
However, it still occupies 58″L x 29″W (147 x 74 cm) of floor space. Plus, it’s recommended to leave a clearance of a few feet (at least two feet on each side and three feet at the back of the deck) for safe access and operation.
Despite being meant for recovery training, the treadmill is not very light and weighs around 123 lbs. (56 kg); naturally, it requires at least two persons for shipping and assembly. However, the weight of the unit adds to its stability. Plus, there are two adjustable levelers on the backside. Moreover, four large rubber pads have also been provided on the front base to rest upon. However, it’s still recommended to place the treadmill on a rubber mat.
Although the Sunny SF-T7857 is quite heavy, it can be easily relocated to users’ desired position, thanks to the transportation wheels placed on the front.
Since the Sunny SF-T7857 is mainly a walking treadmill, its console is basic and features three small digital backlit LED displays that show distance, time, speed, and calories. The distance and calories are shown on one display (the one on the left) where they are shown alternatively, each for a few seconds.
Since the unit doesn’t have pulse sensors, users would have to buy a heart rate monitoring device separately if they want to monitor their heart rate.
The console offers users a possibility to set goals for distance, time, and calories burned. When users select a goal, the console will start a countdown from the selected value and continue till it reaches zero.
Since it’s designed for those who are elderly, disabled, or those recovering from an injury, surgery, or illness, the console is thoughtfully designed to be easy to use. It has only five buttons.
The Start/Stop buttons are for pausing and resuming users’ workout. They can also be used for confirming goals.
The Mode button helps users to enter setup for goal creation.
The Up/Down arrows are meant for speed adjustment or for increasing/decreasing the values for goal selection.
A unique feature the Sunny SF-T7857 has is a Lubrication Reminder. The running belt of the unit needs to be lubricated every 188 miles. The console notifies the user when it’s time to lubricate.
The Sleep Function makes the machine enter sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity.
The running deck of the Sunny SF-T7857 is durable and 44″L x 19.5″W (111.7L x 49.5W cm). It easily accommodates users up to 6’5″ (196 cm) of height or even taller, since the machine is designed only for walking and not running. The internal rollers have a crowned design and they have integrated sealed ball bearings that provide the belt a smooth traction and movement.
The deck has built-in Shock Absorption Technology which features 8 cushion elements integrated in the deck – 4 on each side. These are concealed by the side rail covers. The two cushions located in the area where users’ feet strike are a bit larger so as to absorb a higher amount of shock generated due to the foot-strike. Thus, this treadmill is ideal for the elderly, injured and disabled, and patients recovering from an illness or surgery as it’s kind on their joints and back as compared to concrete or asphalt.
Another feature of the deck that’s suitable for light workouts and recovery training is that its low profile. It’s placed at around 4.5″ (11.4 cm) above floor level and thus makes it easy to access and exit the machine.
The Sunny SF-T7857 offers a speed range from 0.6 to 5.0 MPH. There are Up/Down arrow buttons on the console to adjust the speed.
The speed can be adjusted in increments of 0.1 MPH. Thus it offers users the possibility to find the perfect speed for their height and exercise intensity. The speed adjusts smoothly without a sudden jerk, thus it allows users to adjust their stride and pace easily.
The motor of the Sunny SF-T7857 generates minimum noise and the only sound that can be heard is of the user’s cadence. Thus, users can even watch the TV on a moderate volume setting while exercising.
Emergency Safety Key
The Sunny SF-T7857 also features an emergency safety key to quickly stop the machine in case of an accidental fall or other emergency.
The running belt should be lubricated before the first use. A lubricant bottle is included in the package. As mentioned earlier, it should be lubricated after every 188 miles of usage after the first lubrication.
Also, the belt should be cleaned from time to time, and users should check the machine for any loose bolts and parts and tighten them if required.
