PowerBar Recovery Bar

PowerBar Recovery Bar are energy bars that taste great and come in one size and several flavors.

What I personally don't like is the high carbs: protein ratio, which is too high even for energy/candy bars.

The nutrient content of both flavors is rather similar: they contain around 12g of proteins (whey protein isolate, calcium caseinate, soy protein isolate), 30g of total carbs (20g of sugars!), 9-10g of fats and 250-260kcal per 56g bar.

Bars come as single bars or as 15 bars packs.

As said before, PowerBar Recovery Bars are great tasting protein bars, but with high(er) carbs: protein ratio. Personally, this almost 3:1 ratio is too high for recovery even after a triathlon event. However, if you are participating in any sporting event or physical activity that lasts for hours, these bars will provide you with a quick energy boost and keep those energy levels for some time. But, after such events, higher protein:carbs ratio bars, drinks and meals are required for proper recovery and regeneration, IMHO, at least.

These bars also contain 180mg of sodium and 85mg of potassium - important minerals lost during heavy sweating. And yes, some magnesium would be fine :)

Price - price is more than acceptable, especially 15 bars packs. However, don't forget that these bars contain only 12g of protein per 56g bar.

Recommendation - if you do participate in outdoor activities, sport events and/or you are physically active for hours and you need cheap and great-tasting energy bars that have 'some' protein, have these bars in mind. They are very convenient and not too big (nothing to leave for 'next time'). They will give you energy that will last for some time (depending on the event, participant size/weight, etc.). However, if you need more protein per serving, there are many other bars on the market.

Note: when consuming bars like these, be sure to drink some water. If you are participating in some sport event, drink water regularly in small amounts.
